Description
This is the series model Mass Driver in the Near Future: Lunar Colony series - a hard science science fiction series based on technologies that exist now or might exist in the near future. This is a mass driver, which uses mag-lev technology to "shoot" objects off the surface of the Moon (1/6 gravity of Earth) into space - a method thought to be very economical. This was modeled in 3DS Max, then imported into Vue 8 Infinite for final rendering.

An old idea, but a very good one. In actual practice, it would be shielded from the sun so it would be easier to use superconduction. Another thing: After some experience with their use in low gravity, Earth-type stairs will probably be highly modified (fewer, taller steps, for instance).
