Description
This sign made of stone I found on the Saint's Mountain in Heidelberg. I guess, the stone is more than 100 years old.
One can read:
Prehistoric fortified settlement
Inner ringfort - gate -
created by the Celts against the advancing Teutons
about 400 years before Christ
As I understand this, there was once a settlement with wall around and here was a gate. Some remains of the wall can be found here and there in the forest.

Yes, there are still grave mound, remains of settlements and the archaeologists find from time to time old stuff, even in the area of the Rhine.
