Description

Back in the late 1950's and early 1960's American auto manufacturers competed to see who could put the biggest fins on their cars. This 1957 Chrysler 300C is a worthy contender. I found it at the Auto Collections at what used to be the Imperial Palace hotel. It had been two years since I visited Las Vegas and there'd been a lot of changes - No Imperial Palace anymore; at least not as I remembered it. There'd been a huge project on the site where once the Imperial Palace had stood and, from the sidewalk no indication of where the IP or the Auto Collections had gone. I was sad because no matter what else I do in Las Vegas I always allow a couple of hours to visit the Auto Collections. Just by luck I cut through O'shea's remodeled casino on my way from the Flamingo to Harrah's and saw a sign pointing to the Auto Collections. Back in the day the Chrysler 300D had been my father's dream car - it won Motor Trend's car of the year a couple of times and was praised by all the experts in the auto magazines he read. Enjoy

I am glad you were able to make the collection. I did not on my last trip but went to two auto museums, both in New Mexico and I also went to the Cobra museum there in Las Vegas. it was free and well worth your time

I've got my $145,000 ready and I'm on my way to Las Vegas! Hi Dennis. I realized I hadn't been to your gallery for some time and when I took a look, here's one of your very stylish automotive collages! Great presentation. I just pulled up the Auto Collections on my IPhone and got to see their entire collection...wow.

Great shot. I remember that one. Those were the days when they were a wide as a VW was long!
