When Aaron got rid of Akaste, the evil Covalent, he didn't kill her, rather he sent her to an alternative plane she could not escape. When he "died" and was quasi resurrected by Edicus, she captured his spirit so to speak and brought him where she is. There, she is pretending to be his wife and building a life with him there. Aaron knows something is up as her world has glitches in it -- he also still has memories of Issa and his kids (think DARKWORLD). Edicus can't remove Aaron from that world until Aaron remembers -- toying with Issa trying to send messages to him in Akaste's plane.
