Description

A nostalgic image of times passed and gone forever..... My favourite Harrier is probably still the original GR1, but today we have the Digimation AV-8B model GR-7'ized as best possible...and crudely retextured as a 1(f) Squadron, the first unit to start the transition to Jump Jets in the UK. One of my Father's relatives was a member of the original Harrier Conversion Team under the watchful eye of Duncan Simpson, and later spent some time in the States teaching the Marines how to fly theirs!!..... and is I guess where I inherited my fascination with, and love of this particular bird! The nice thing about today is that it is Wednesday, though if someone saw Monday and Tuesday?, I'd like to know where they went to, such is the blur of the workload at the mo!. Hope everyone is having a good one!

Fantastic mate. Rob is going to go crazy over this, not only is it a Harrier but also 1 Squadron too. Shame nobody has made a GR1 with RAF textures. Another excellent series Martin.

WAY back in the shadows of my mind I was taken to RAF Wittering for the first (of many) times.. There, I sat in one of the very first GR1's! For a 12 year old I was totally in heaven.. On that glorious day I went to the control tower, saw the Harrier Sim, and sat in my first ever Spitfire! No 1 Squadron, has always been close to me.. I still know a couple of the pilots and crew.. And then, it got better... I got onto RAF Alconbury and sat in Phantoms and a U2.... Yep.. My childhood was a blast.. Neil has started a Gr3 Harrier I gather.. I'm still waiting LOL Cheers mate.. Made my month! Rob

You have given this image that 50's or 60's look which works well. The Harrier cockpit looks big enough for the young lady flight attendant to actually serve the pilot his spot of tea. Well done Martin!

LOL, yes it does, the later Harriers seem a lot more roomy with a bulbous cockpit lid to enhance the illusion... but based on Photo's, the scale is about right....

Wonderful job...it's amusing, I've just made a plane and girl image for a friend but I will not post it 'cause it can be seen as a plagiarism of a Greg Hildebrandt creation.

That promises another "Windy Daze" pic when this bird will take off. Well, nice personal story but, by the way, from where or whom do you inherit your fascination with, and love of these particular "not flying" honey bees ? Yes, those closed to your planes and/or cars. :-D
