Description

I have no idea what kind of orchid this is. I thought it might be a bit rare because it was housed in a special glass case. It is not a super shot because I had to take it from my side of the glass, but I wanted to post and see if any of you orchis experts out there know what it is called. Some orchids were labeled, but I did not think to write any of the names...too busy clicking. This was taken at Insel Mainau, Germany at a fantastic orchid greenhouse. Even a rank amature such as I am could get some beautiful photos of the orchids there. http://www.mainau.de/home.html Thanks to all who Have looked and commented on my other photos. I appreciate all of you.

I think that is one of the 'Slipper Orchids' but someone more clever than me will know! Very nice shot.

A magnificent capture and I agree with Jeff that it could be in the Lady Slipper Orchid family! Very pretty colors!

It's a slipper orchid or Paphiopedium , Paph for short, the green leaf one's can mostly be grown in a cool greenhouse about 10c or windowsill I would hazard a guess that the screen was to stop it being stolen, this is a great shot of a super orchid.

A fantastic photo, plus Orchid, Pat. I love all the greenery around it too.
