Description

Found this little fella on my Hibiscus this morning. Set up the new camera with the macro set up to take it for a test drive. It did well. Never seen one of these before, it's rather cute, about 3mm in length. Got a couple comments about my insect macros on my last couple uploads, so figured I would throw this one up. Thanks for looking and any comments.

Great macro, I thought it must be a flash shot but is it a straight macro lens or have you reversed it or are using ext tubes as well.

Even though the EXIF data says 70mm, it is actually the Canon 50mm compact macro lens with the Canon Life-Size convertor attached (specifically made for that lens), which brings it to a true 1:1 lens. I also had a +10 hoya close up filter on there. The filter does cause some distortion at the edges of the image, but for something so small it usually allows me to crop the image and get a pretty sharp shot. The lens without the filter is very, very crisp. Which I shot larger insects with straight with no filter.
