Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Two excellent captures, with some post work this could almost certainly be a an abstract. Well done.

Scads of pollen recorded in this cool macro, Andrea. Look like tiny crisscrossed bones atop Shirley's center.

Love it! This up-close-and-personal view is a perfect photograph, or a painting, for that matter. This is outstanding!

As I'm not back for a multi-day visit, I'm forced to make choices once again, and leave a bunch of shots out. So please know, as always, that I sit with everything and start formulating responses the minute I look. I'll be back for more soon, but for now allow me some selections...Both versions of this look like a lush dessert in a place that charges a lot of money for desserts! These are beautiful. It's hard to believe this is the center of a flower, because your closeup and treatment make it look like it's floating in a sea of light and, well, melted fruit ice. (Sorbet) In fact, it looks like a painting more than a photograph. Some of Georgia O'Keeffe flower paintings looked like this, if you were lucky enough to see them in person (or in good prints). A wonderful view of the infinite world of flower-dom; and that pink along the bottom---both corners---is terrific: A terrific stroke to leave it in so boldly. Delicious piece, delicious postwork.
