Description

Bombylius major. For Andrew, who likes his aircraft in flight. This as you can see from the exif is a point and shoot pic, and from one of the earlier Panasonic TZ series, the TZ3. It is on macro zoom with the focussing set to the smallest centre spot. That is where I leave it all the time even for portraits and landscapes. I am aware that a DSLR would produce a very much better pic if I had the strength to hold one, but I am thrilled with the quality this camera gives me. I have worn out one completely, but I always buy secondhand when I see them.

Excellent shot, this is a very challenging capture to undertake at the best of times, fact is if you had been using an SLR you would probably would not have been able to capture that shot.. often all about a keen eye and spontaneity.. and having the compact set up for a good choice of possible shooting situations is key. If the TZ3 is like the TZ5 then it probably has two pre-set slot options.. maybe one for sunny and the other for darker conditions. I have painted with light using the TZ5.. extensive set of pre-sets you can use.. one or two of those offer shutter speed options.

Like a jet fighter in flight, with this awesome shot, Andrea. I've been reading that there are lighter weight DSLRs out there, so maybe? Of course, you have so many cameras now that it might be an embarrassment of riches.

Yep, as I suspected, a Harrier Jump Jet.

I don't think a DSLR would take a better shot than this Andrea. Super capture.

Great shot and a DSLR might have got a better shot but I think the hard part was getting it in frame and sharp when the buttons pressed.
