Description

We have been in south Florida since October 2nd and this was my first trip into the swamp - yesterday. This is 2 Tricolored Heron chicks. Just hatched by the looks of things. They will grow up to be about 26 inches (66 cm) long with a wing span of 36 inches (91 cm). Those are Moms legs on the left. Do zoom. WOW!! I would not expect to ever see such a thing so I thank you for sharing this fantastic capture! And I do not think they are ugly at all...maybe you could say it is a bad feather day, but then if you were a potentially huge bird who just came out of a tight egg space who could blame you? Oh, they're so cute in that awkward baby bird way; I'm sure they'll grow into those big beaks! What a great sight, we never see this sort of thing around here! Wonderful heart-warming capture!
