Description
As the demon child speaks I feel everyone beginning to gather behind me.
"Tate my lad, you have MADE my day! I honestly didn't think you had it in
you, but then you did find some help along the way."
Kortt then speaks up. "The terms have been honored by all. Be gone now!"
I watch as the smile upon Kasza'Zuel's face fades, his eyes shift from yellow
to solid black and his expression has become cold and stern. Hayden's grip on my
arm tightens and she shifts her body closer to mine. Then the demon speaks,
however no more does he posses the voice of a child, his voice is now much more
raw and guttural.
"WATCH YOUR TONE BOY! You may be something special in this realm but never forget I was there for your youth, I know you for the Whiny whelp you are."
We watch as Kortt's hands tighten into fists. The demons words have struck a
nerve within him, however before he is able to make his next move the demon
speaks again.
"With that being said I want you to know I feel MOST ecstatic!"
His eyes shift back to yellow and his voice reverts to that of a child. Now
once again he looks creepy which is preferable to the black eyes that made him
much more terrifying. He then locks eyes on Hayden and smiles.
"It's good that Tate was able to come through, that clears you of our deal my
sweet. You were a magnificent prisoner, that soft skin, those luscious lips, the
way you squirmed as I fondled your soul...hahaHahaha. I have tasted your essence
my pet and I must say I found it quite intoxicating. Your soul WILL be mine.
Maybe not today, but someday I will be there to collect and savor your sweetness
once more.
Hayden releases her grip on my arm and lunges for the dark child, luckily my
reflexes are faster then hers and I'm able to stop her as she is flails
violently hoping to connect with the demon.
"I hate you! You disgust me!" Yells Hayden
I pull her back and embrace her once more. Then we notice the purple smoke
beginning to surround the dark child and it doesn't take long before I realize
he is conjuring a portal. He steps back into the portal, that's when Crete
bursts through the others to reach the front near myself and Hayden.
"He's getting away!" He looks to Kortt. "Are we really going to let him go?"
Kortt says nothing, he simply nods. As Kasza'Zuel is almost completely in the
eye of the portal he says.
"Fear not old friend, ours paths will cross again."
Then the portal closes and the demon is gone.
"Damn it!" Says Crete. "We should have tried to stop him."
Kortt moves to face Crete. "We all live to fight another day, this could have
gone much worse. This was not the time or the place to attack one as powerful as
him...you have to trust me on this. Someday you may be ready to face him but
that day is not today. You all would have died, I'm sure of it. You have a new
opportunity at life, go discover the world and all the wonders it has to offer.
You have been locked away for so long, there is so much to see and do. Enjoy
your second chance."
That's when I feel Hayden's mouth on my ear, she whispers ever so softly.
"Tate. I didn't except his offer, I couldn't, you have to believe me."
"I do." I reply. "Your here now, your safe. That's all that matters."
"I agree." I turn to see Hades standing besides me, I never heard him
approach. "The demon may have acquired the grimoire but we got the girl! Hayden
here is worth a hundred grimoires as far as I'm concerned."
I see a smile form in the corner of her mouth, Hades is slick, I'll give him
that. Kortt comes over next, followed by Crete and then Grys.
"Can we leave now?" Asks Hayden.
"I think that would be best." Replies Kortt. He then lifts his arms and
motions for us to lead the way. I'm not excited about having to try and guide
our way through the countless corridors but at least the worst is behind us now,
it should be smooth sailing from here.
