Some people think working in a Bowling Alley must be boring....same thing day in and day out, I wish! You just never know what's around the corner....take today, I was sitting in my office when the phone rang. It was the receptionist who informed me there was a young lady asking for the Duty Tech. Now that's not a call I get every day and so I hurried to reception.... for a moment I thought I'd walked into The Plant. There stood 5 feet of blonde femininity in a boiler suit, clipboard in hand and a smile from ear to ear. "Hi " she said, followed by " could you give me a hand with a couple of boxes" ? " Not a problem" I replied. Then it all started to unravel...." Do you have a pallet truck " ? she asked as we walked out to the car park. My assumption of a Transit van was replaced by 40 feet of articulated truck. Dropping the tailgate and lifting the shutter revealed 'the boxes'....bloody big boxes. I would point out this is normal, a brand new, straight from the factory, arcade game....and nobody ever informs us they're coming. Well unloading them wasn't a problem, the problem was what to do with them. First stop, the diner floor, then a phone call to the man responsible...." Oh! I meant to e-mail you...sorry". I asked the question "where is this going" ? the answer "it's replacing the 'Out Run', it should fit ". I pointed out " we still have the 'Out Run', what do I do with THAT"? The answer " it's getting picked up next week, can't you just 'put it somewhere'"? I know where I'd like to put it....The truth of the matter was IT WOULDN'T FIT.....however the solution was quite simple once I thought about it....all I had to do was move...The photo booth, the Need For Speed motorcycle game (twin) the Out Run (twin) 2 Animal Kaizer games and a Clen-a-flex....oh yes and a bloody huge Ben & Jerry ice-cream dispenser.....easy! Then all I had to do was unpack 2 Batman arcade games and work out how to assemble and install them with no instructions ( again perfectly normal ). It's fare to say that when my shift ended I was fatigued......and it all began with just a smile. I did get to test it ( several times ) it's actually good fun.....if you like blowing things up :-) Roll on tomorrow....I may actually get to work on a bowling machine.......

Oh for a good old dull day. I congratulate you on not blowing a gasket and actually putting the whole load in the inconsiderate guy's ear canal.

I don't think the ear canal was where it was headed..... down a lot and to the left....... and here was me first thinking that you had scored a couple of larger than life batman figures,(the pedestal...) and getting jealous......but then I read.... Still, made for an 'interesting' day..lol,

LOL matey! The butterfly effect in a bowling alley - love it (because it happened to someone else!) That C word is a mystery to a lot of folks. I am spending so muchtime on my mobile on my days off, I might as well be at work :)

Don't you just hate the fast teen obsessed modern tech world, coz I'm afraid I do mate! I don't envy you aside from the 5foot blond in the boiler suit lol ;-) Have fun! lol Rob

Yes, smiles are wonderful things--but they can lead a guy into all kinds of trouble! Heh! As Kurt Vonnegut said; "And so it goes."
