Description
Special Notes: (For the readers of my stories) Someone brought up a point I’ve been waiting for; What the heck are Samurai doing in cowboy hats and six-shooters? Well, that’s pretty easy. If you remember your history, which most of us got from movies, hence, reference—The Last Samurai.
If you recall, the Samurai got smushed by modern guns (six shooters, Gatling guns, and I think they had some bazookas and flame-throwers, but maybe not—what do you want? It’s history from movies)
Now lets do some reimagining. What if the Samurai, instead of being silly stubborn, had gone and got some six shooters and long rifles and maybe some armor not made from bamboo sticks tied together. The results of the battle would have been far different. The Samurai could have kept their culture, their identity, and you know… kept breathing.
So here comes the cause and effect of the what if.
They may have formed a great Empire called… oh, I don’t know… lets call it the Glorious Kitsune Empire. And maybe they would have conquered the twenty-seven known worlds of the galaxy. And maybe they would even have had cowboy hats in fashion for a short period before they stored them away in boxes in the basement of the Imperial Palace. And maybe they would have continued to advance in technology, making modern Samurai Battle Armor that could fight in the vacuum of space, and kept the general shape/fashion of the ancient armor in their more modern armor.
And maybe they would have stored those early six-shooters and long rifles that they no longer needed (because they invented compressed-air-missle-rifles, also known as CAMR – okay, yea, I just made up that part, live with it). And maybe someday in the far future a group of boys in their darkest hour of need found those old guns in the basement of the Imperial Palace.
Btw, if you haven’t figured out who the twenty battle teams of one lord and four warriors each are yet. Or who the Sionnach Eighty are, or who Sionnach, Tolnor, Akio, Seph, or some others are, don’t worry, wait for it, it’s coming. There’s still a few more surprise characters yet to appear, and some scenes that will make you go, huh? But don’t think it’s as simple as you think, it’s a twist that will make your brain hurt.
And I thought of a good metaphor to explain this books place in the series. Think of the three books so far as an airplance. The Gunslingers book is one wing, The Ravens are the other wing, and The Princes are the fuselage. So, who’s flying the plane? The pilot of course. But who’s telling the pilot where to go? And who’s telling ground control what to do? And.. and… and…

Ok, guess I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree. 1. I thought you were referring to the wide Samurai helmets when speaking of the hats, not Stetsons. 2. This is a fantasy so you could give them any weapon you chose to, after all it is your world.

Love this image. Forget the weapons. Just give them all a special ability and be done with it. In the words of Eric Cartman.... "My special ability is that i can have any special ability that i want".

Wonderful image! I like the gray tones and mistiness. As far as re-costuming history, I have no problem with it.
