Description
William Blake (1757-1827) was an English Poet, painter and printmaker who is recognised among the greatest contributors to English literature and art. He was a major figure in the Romantic movement, and lived on Hercules Road, Borough of Lambeth.
In celebration and homage to William Blake, Southbank Mosaics created and installed 70 mosaics based on his works - Blake's Lambeth. These can be found in London-Waterloo Railway Station's railway tunnels on Centaur Street, Virgil Street, and Carlisle Lane.
I was really suprised and impressed when I came across these mosaics during a walk. The works shown here are a small selection of the mosaics which caught my eye and there's so many to look at! These works certainly turned these tunnels from the dark and unfriendly to bright and vibrant for passers-by.
A must see!!
Many thanks for viewing!!
