First Carrara render

Great for the first render. Looks like an excellent start. The idea is excellent. The composition is good. The setting and character look very interesting and well textured. The only adjustments I'd do to this image are the lighting. Some of it could even be fixed in post, without re-rendering, if you rendered this using the multi-passes. (In the Render room, in the Output tab you can add the image components as separate passes and them combine them in an image editor which supports layers, like PS or Gimp, if you haven't explored this option yet, I highly recommend giving it a try :)...) The lighting alterations I'd start with would be to edit the rays (make them softer) and maybe change their angle a tiny bit, so they would point down a bit more. I would also change the light-related render settings: Turn OFF "Light Through Transparency" whenever you see it. Turn ON "Indirect Lighting (Full indirect lighting) and turn ON Caustics. (I am hoping that the broken window is an actual mesh, not a alpha map, if it is an alpha map, the light through transparency trick won't work). Best of luck and I look forward to seeing more of your Carrara work!

Not bad at all. Sets up a visually interesting image quite nicely. Good sense of scale, too. Oooh, can't wait to give Antaran's "light through transparency" trick a go. Using caustics when glass and realistic reflectivity is involved is essential. Also, google up PhilW's "Best Carrara Renders " post on the DAZ forums. It's not a one-click solution (there are none) but as a starting point, it's essential.
