Description

Scotland, Argyll, Inveraray And then we came to the Inveraray Castle. The white gravel makes it difficult to ad a good contrast. It also was late afternoon and the castle was closed for visitors ;o( The foundation stone was laid in 1746. The castle ( in neo-Gothic design) we know today was the result of a fire in 1877, which resulted in the addition of the third floor and conical roofs on the corner towers. It has been the seat of the Duke of Argyll, chief of Clan Campbell since the 17th century. The 13th Duke and his family live in private apartments occupying two floors and set between two of the castle's crenellated circular towers. Recent renovations included the installation of the house's first central heating. The Castle is surrounded by a 16-acre garden and estate of 60,000 acres. Interessanter Baustil, eine echte "Trutzburg". Klasse Foto, auch wenn ich Dir bezüglich Kiesboden und Kontrast recht gebe.

Outstanding capture of this beautiful standing structure! So wonderful to see that something like this is still erect and open to the public eye. Excellent capture and point of view from this angle!
