Playing with lights and shades. And a little bit of defraction, I think. Defraction? Refraction? It's there, whatever it is.

This is a suitably creepy image. I like the soft lights and the sense of cold dampness in the air. The alien in the tube is hidden, but revealed just enough to make me want to see more. And the guy with his arms folded seems solid and determined. I also like the details, like the age of the guy to our left and all the little lights. If I were to nitpick one thing to improve it, it would be to adjust the back of the old guy's jacket. In reality, a jacket that short and tight would actually ride up and show us the bottom of his shirt and the top of his britches (and belt). The way it's riding down now is one of the giveaways that this is 3D -- in reality, our clothes don't stretch in that manner. But, of course, this is just a super-detailed nitpick. This is a great image, and I'm really impressed by the way it tells the story that this is some kind of research facility and -- because of the lighting and your expert use of body language -- this is a SERIOUS situation. Great job all around.
