Description

These large catfish would come to the surface to feed at the docks. This catfish probably weighs about five pounds and is 15-24 inches long. It would make a nice plentiful meal. Taken at Robbers' Cave State Park, Wilburton, Ok. Thanks for viewing my gallery and your comments. Catfish info: http://www.chesapeakebay.net/fieldguide/critter/blue_catfish

Catfish are among the best to eat. They have skin you peel off instead of scales. They can be filleted or cooked whole. A world record blue catfish was caught in the John H. Kerr-Buggs Island Lake near Clarksville Va. The fish weighed in at 143 pounds

they get huge catfish from the Verdigris River, often 70 to 100 pounds. I have known several people that would reach under rock ledges along rivers try and catch catfish by hand. I never was that foolish as I have too many snakes in the creeks and rivers
