Description
We have made it to the 9 week mark here. As I said before, these two seem quite restless. I won't be surprised if they leave the nest a week early. They are getting close to their adult size. Mom and dad no longer get in the nest. They just drop the fish and sit on the limbs around the nest. They spend very little time at the nest. The chicks need to eat a lot now so the parents hunt all day.

Me too. They pick at each other and bicker back and forth. Mom may just dump them out if they keep it up!

They grow so fast! I know, I say that about my grandsons too, but in this case, it's really true! LOL!

Shows these birds have a LOT of personality! And, taking over the nest from mom and dad. Oh, my! Could be a problem when they start flying - coming and going and getting at each other over nest territory. Just want to add a little something here - yesterday, while walking to the bus, a big raven flew at me from behind and passed just over my head. There's a colony of them in a tree near the bus stop. I assume it recognized me and wanted a closer look. I felt flattered by the close attention, but at the same time a bit frightened - what's its intention? :-)

Ravens are one of the most intelligent birds in the world. It is baby season here. I am not sure about it where you live. If it has chicks close it may have thought it necessary to make sure you didn't venture to close. The other possibility is that it does recognize you and was just playing with you. Studies have shown that these birds do remember people that are around every day. Ravens love to play and will explore interaction with other species. They are also quite the joksters and never miss an oppertunity to pick on a passer by.

How they have grown, wouldn't think there was much room for mum & dad. x
