Description

Seems incredible that it is almost exactly 10 years ago I posted a picture on Renderosity called "Thunderbolt": http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=670057 At the time, it could have been just another standalone picture, but the idea that it could be part of a story stirred. Ten years later and a few stumbles on the way, I'm still trying to keep the sprawling story in order, with many more characters and threads than I originally planned. Other time pressures not withstanding, I still keep thinking about what will happen next to these adventurers and their ship. For some reason, some of you out there are also interested. The original Thunderbolt was built in Truespace 1.0, a promotional freebie from a magazine cover, and rendered in Bryce 5 accompanied by Poser 4 figures. It was incredibly primitive, the slightly improved version which I still have weighing in at 227,000 polygons. For some reason, it had a certain "something" that I liked and I kept using it. I re-engineered two further versions in Hexagon, one of which never saw the light of day. Finally, fed up with instability and lack of scalability in my then modelling and rendering toolset, I graduated to Cinema 4D and decided to embark on a whole new Thunderbolt. It literally took years. I had to stop and go back to it many times. Last year it was finally completed, at a mere 3 million polygons. Textured using Sci-Fi textures from Dosch Design, I'm hoping this the final and definitive Thunderbolt. Thanks for following the story for so long, hoping to pick up the pace again soon. Thanks for looking, comments always appreciated. Poser 9, Cinema 4D R15

A very long time I am with you and your story. I loved it all time. What will be in the next 10 years? And for me, I switched from Vue 4 to Vue 14 and to C4D R12. I think these are good tools for fantasy stories. TimJa

It'd be really neat to see you release .a PDF compilation of all the pics and stories, so everyone can easily read them and download it for later enjoyment on devices/locations without internet.
