Description

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Tara! This is a sort of quilt, but it could be a square for each state you've been to so far maybe. I've no idea of how many you've actually touched, but there are about 31 and a bit here. It's another DDDD (Denouement Deficiency Disorder Doodle), done with pens and markers on a little A6 pad with shiny paper. I made a postworked version but it didn't work when reduced to the 512 kb for RR, so you can see it on Flickr Here

Oooooohh! I love it! (Both, actually!) When I clicked it open, I thought, "It's a quilt!" and then I read your note. :) This is marvelous. The overall hot-pink-ness of the thing delighted me first, and then I saw detail and shading and endless variation and got totally lost. Then ... the Flickr version started the process all over again! Thank you so much for this wonderful birthday gift, my friend. It's just the ticket! :)

This can be such fun to do, vibrant colours, could also be looking down on an abstract allotment patches or stacked boxes.

Farmland from the air? Decorative brickwork? A quilt you say? This would make an eye catching one. Happy Birthday, Tara!

Definitely lot's of different textures and illuminating colours in this quilt, and by the look of it - a very happy one ;)) the other one, the 'Flickr' version reminds me very much of some of 'Hubert's' creation or just a 'fractal quilt' ;P great present Andrea, BB

This really fits to Tara (and Bill), always on the road from one state to another. And what beautiful fantasy and colors, Andrea. Anyway, your gallery is 'the place to be'. Amazing what a fantastix mix with so much diversity.

I'm just returning, and I'll be back soon for a longer session; but I want to do a few today because it's been too long! I saw the postworked version of this, and whoosh! An ocular knockout! Bursting and busting out, a real visual carnival...This however is also a carnival, and I love the idea that this is all the states Tara and Bill visited. An artist's representation. You got a lot of detail in each 'state', and some very painterly detail too. I love the variety from square to square; and in some of the squares you got the same kind of overlapping 'coastal lines' that you get in your edge-work with PS. I also love how you spill over into the borders between the rectangles, and how they drip down the sides, etc. Your DDDD pieces are a picnic, and the patterns are varied but also somehow in the same big family. joyous and a patchwork, a patchwork quilt. A terrific birthday upload.
