Description
Captured 5/3/14, very early morning, adjacent to our nearby Interstate 5 freeway.
Due to all of the other subject matter I've been showing, I've been terribly remiss in posting the many tons/tonnes of pics I've taken of our local freeway widening project, now going on for several months already. I'm going to make a dedicated effort to get more of the photos on board, because there is nothing as awe inspiring and breathtaking as freeway construction work and equipment. Since the toil is performed from Monday to Friday only, I take the majority of photos involving this project on early Saturday mornings, when there is no one around to challenge my trudging amok upon the unsteady ground and around the equipment.
Arrivederci, baby.

Serious working man's toys there, Harry; my little brother loved these when he was a kid. It's hard to get close to the equipment here, they work seven days a week, and while they never seem to get anything done there are always guys in hard hats walking around and looking at things and poking stuff with sticks and tools. Why they tear up so much more than they can work on at any one time I will never understand! Great captures of the yellow road beasts!

Well you can knock me over with a stick---Andrea wants a 'go' at that! Lol---if she's not a fan of cars, how could she go for this jaw-breaking beast? Actually, it's kinda cute---I mean, they do get scarier, and this one looks "home sized". Two fine captures, and not just for the muscle and form of the Caterpillar, but for the composition over all. You've worked with the street lights and trees, etc, very well, to create a unified composition in both. And the angles of the dirt and plank under number one, make for fine contrasting angles; while the cross angles of the fence and road/path in number 2 do the same. Fine shadows too. And in number two, you have a church behind it! Great juxtaposition! With all that debris and sand around...and I imagine anyone praying in there, during week days, has got to have a rough time reaching the big dude upstairs, with all that noise around. ("What? You're gonna what??? Bring a flood??? I'm sorry, could you speak up, it's a little LOUD down here...") That shot really does move around and embrace the tractor---via fence, wall and church. 2 fine shots of big beasts in early morning light. And yeah, if you were there during the week, I imagine they'd chase you away. Not an easy place to go shooting, for sure...
