Description

Captured 5/1/14, early morning, on my way back home by foot from the 99-cent store. Amazing how you can save at that outlet. Normally very few vehicles pass up this street at any given moment, but at this juncture there was a train slowly chugging by, blocking their path about half a mile up the road, so these unfortunate drivers started stacking up as a result, waiting for it go by. Most of them were on their way to work, so, to avoid any of those occurrences, I rarely, if ever, go motoring around my general area at that time of day. Totziens.

Damn that traffic jam; an all-too-familiar sight around here on all days and at all times of day. We don't have the train tracks to blame for it, just too many cars and inadequate road space, and a plethora of bad drivers. One of my pet peeves! However, your shots are clear and bright, and don't convey any of the stress that the drivers are likely feeling as they wait for the slow train to get out of their way. Great work, Harry!

Something I see every morning outside my house. It's called the rush hour.

A couple of people (Denise included) saw that these have beauty, belying the stress of the drivers. It's true---the shots have a tranquility and restfulness, and they're very appealing! Now if I were actually standing there, I'd probably feel differently. But you managed to capture the quiet feel of the area and trees and simple street, and the charm of the cars, etc. Congratulations---this is one of the only traffic-jam shots I've seen that actually looks inviting! Nice perspective lines too. And the cars look quietly lined up, as if for a high school event. I guess your eye outdid the stress of the moment---a very pleasant pair! And I wouldn't drive in that either, if I didn't have to. Must be a long train.
