The young sheepherder has grown wealthy over the years from the benevolent influence of the 'gift' from the alien. The gift has enhanced his mental abilities making him quick with his wits and understanding which allowed him to see advantages before others and profit from them. He has married above his station in his village and has even become one of its most respected leaders. Always true to his promise to the alien, he has taken good care of the 'gift' making sure it was well protected. With his mental abilities sharpened by the gift, he was able to design and very safe place inside his home to hide it. At the alien's insistence, he presents it back to him for inspection. The alien sees the change inside the globe and is pleased. It shows this human has evolved along his desired direction. The alien sees that the years are taking their effect on the sheepherder, now an older man. "Bring me your eldest son, so that I may give him instructions for keeping this 'gift' safe so that it may continue to benefit your family and relatives." The son is presented to the alien. At first, he is afraid much as the sheepherder had been when he first saw the alien. But the gentle mental suggestions beamed into the lads brain soon bring him around to a calmer, more receptive state. The aliens implants all the instructions into the lads brain to be released when he assumes responsibility for the 'gift.' With his task finished, the alien departs in a glittery halo of light, leaving the old man and his son to sit at the bench much astounded but happy with the explanations of the alien. The old man lives another several years and when he dies, his son takes over as protector of the 'gift'. Every 40 years, the alien returns to check for progress in the human race. He has many such families scattered around the world. If a family loses its way and forgets to care for the 'gift', a war erupts in that area of the world with much loss of life. After that area returns to a stable condition, the alien chooses another family to receive the 'gift', and the cycle repeats, hopefully with an ever improving line of humans taking their place in society and evolving mankind toward a more enhanced and universe worthy species. --------------------------------------------------------------------
