Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Such a great map! I love the textures. Seeing it in "map view," as it were, makes me think of sailing around islands and looking at hills. Wonderful!

I'm not sure but isn't this Pangea? Who knew death and decay could be so striking? Outstanding catch.

Blimey, it does look like a high altitude map. Good lighting enhances the wonderful disparate textures of the mold in this top notch macro, A. theonderful capture of the disparate mold textures in this Tizzy3 macro, Andrea.

I think Harry's comment was invaded by creatures from outer space---maybe your gourd's mould hit it, lol. Good comment though. The more I see of your mould and other decay shots, the more I see connections with your edge work and your more playful doodles. This mould does have those colonies in it, and it follows edges the way your creations do. A really fine closeup of the metropolitan areas and suburbs formed by mould on an old fruit. I haven't had gourds for so long, I didn't remember that they mould after a while. (I just thought they dried out, and were impervious.) In any case, it's a map and a satellite image all rolled into one. And it's very creative (and that greenish tint that mould gets---someone should sit it down and tell it, "lose the green, M!!! NOT a good color, trust us..." As art, though, it's endlessly fascinating.) Andrea, I'll be back again, with more comments (o goody, goody, Mark!) (lol, I know that's not the most earth shaking news you've heard in months), but I at least got about 9 so far. WOnderful stuff. And thanks for coming to 4 images of mine in one night. I won't do that again, this time around. I just had to do it last night. My images feel left out. I'll be back again soon...

Harry is right - Tizzy3 still has a magical touch. Well worth a zoom!
