Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

When I have no pics suitable for uploading (re what you wrote above), I either do an awful cartoon, or I blend the last several images and call it 'art'. (That's what I'm about to do this afternoon. Be forewarned.) Andrea, you were one of the artists who I left comments for in the last 2 days, and not one got "on the air". Sorry. I don't know if you got ebots, but if you did, they led nowhere. I like the 'concept'---link-less ebots as conceptual art---but I hope you didn't get plagued. Today, I'm doing different images because I want to get to the other ones "fresh," and that'll take another day or two. Also---boring introduction, here---I did a second session in your gallery last saturday, when ebots weren't happening at ALL (for me); so if you didn't get any ebots then, let me know and I'll tell you which images I did. Just wanted you to know I was here more than once since returning. (I also posted a pic a few days ago where the bots didn't go out to everyone. But it was an awful drawing, so if you missed it, you'll survive, trust me.) Now to your pic! A big bold butterfly capture, really contrasted with those sunlit green leaves. Really strong and popping contrast. Looks like a strong tomato based sauce on top of greens. Not to compare an insect with a sauce, but it came to mind. (I'll get emails from insect-groups now.) And your diagonal composition---butterfly and leaves pointing one way, the right-side leaves the other---makes a nice criss cross. Very bold and beautiful. Glad you didn't toss this, it's an eye popper. (Did you know that butterflies were believed to steal butter? I think because of the buttery hues some butteflies have. Either that or they ate a lotta dry toast and got reeeeeeeallllly tired of it. My jokes suck, ya know that. I should stick to commentary. Another sign of age...)

Beautiful colors in this Peacock Butterfly and an excellent look at the Peacock's "eyes" Nice contrast against the green leaves!
