My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

This counters the view that a photo of a whole tree doesn't work...well done indeed. And after reading your words I can smell that fresh pine scent right here and now...hmmmmmmmm.

Nice info.

Nice looking tree. It almost looks like CGI. I've found pine trees smell different in Japan as well.

I live in a town famous for its pine trees, and I love the smell, although I sadly have grown so used to it I rarely notice. This tree is so like the one that stood on the pavement outside my house it gave me a memory shock! There ia a Silver Birch in its place now.

Superb capture Tara. God bless.

It is the tree of my childhood. I am born in South west in France with a forest of pines of thousand square kilometers. Thank you for the nostalgia!

Well, unfortunately, I can't smell it, but I like the shape of this tree a lot - it's very graceful & sinuous & stands out nicely against that luminous milky gray sky. And I don't see any noticeable perspective distortion, which I would expect in this kind of shot. Maybe you were standing on elevated ground?

Majestueux !!!
Adobe_One_Kenobi
I don't expect any distortion at 40mm on a 1.6 crop I expect it to act just the way it has at 64mm. This is a cool shot though, would like quite Japanese against a sunset.

smells good do it not. cool shot

What a beautifully meandering tree! I know what you mean about being surprised/shocked by the differences in some things in the South; when I moved to Virginia from the west coast in my early 20s I underwent quite a long and hard culture shock. Not just the smells, but the sounds, the very feel of the air was so amazingly different from what I had been raised with. Not to mention the s-l-o-w talkers...I had to really learn to slow down. In their favour: they had fireflies. There are so many things I miss now about that side of the continent.

What a great shot of this amazing tree, Tara! I can almost imagine the smell of pine from your description. It's been a very long time since I've been that far south - may have to plan a visit soon!
