Description

"Smokin Drum Solo No. 2- A Collection Of Drummer Shots" *This photo shot was taken when I was playing with a band called "Pro-Test" and this show was being played at a club in Las Vegas Nevada and on this night, it was a competition of five bands in a "Battle-of-the-Bands" night where the winner would be selected to play at the EATEM Festival which is something to do with Emerging Artists That Enter Music type deal and if you win you get the top spot to play and second is the second and so on down the line but only the top fifteen bands to place in the competition would be allowed to perform for what was a grand scale crowd! Out of a couple hundred bands we placed and were the fifth band to play the night of the festival which worked out very well because of poor planning, we had the best spot of the night at 10 o'clock to 11 o'clock slot, which is normally considered the 'Headline' spot! We had a great time and many jobs came from that gig! -This is just one of a collection of photo shots that people took of me and/or the band I happened to be playing with at that moment, which was when I was playing live on stage and they were kind enough to give me a copy of the photo they took! These shots helped me to preserve a moment in time of something I accomplished and took farther than I ever thought I would go into a career that spanned almost 30 years. I thought it might be time I shared some of the happiness and fun times I had while touring the world as I did and therefore preserve them in time online so as to let me remind myself of those good times of what life let me achieve! I never asked anyone to take the shots, they just did, and yes they are "Selfies" as they are called today, but not in my eyes...I was a very hard working drummer playing in the style of very progressive metal drums...I have since retired from the music business and only play with friends once every couple months just for fun and to keep those chops as oiled as possible before I can't do it anymore! That's when I will consider myself as too old to do it! I hope it takes a long time for that day to arrive! Hey Mike! Laser eyes eh?! Cool...i could zap the girls all up against the front of the stage and watch their shirts fall off! Heheheee! Yeah the show worked out pretty well but the band that won were of course the butt kissers...they didn't even have hardly anyone in the club, I was there to watch and even their music sucked, so that why I told them that I knew a special doctor that could permanently remove the brown stain from their noses, lol Thanks for the comment Mike! This brings back so many memories. Both of going to shows and watching my husband play with his friends in various garage bands. He is a guitarist. Later daughter #2 had friends who were in bands and she was the designated Roadie because she had a van that could haul the drum set. Her buddy Frank was one of the most talented drummers I have ever seen, especially for a teenager. I think he gave it up because his mother insisted that if he was going to be a musician, he had to study it formally.

Hey there Teri! Well it sounds like music is in your family! That's just great! WoW he gave up going to school to learn about music, I hate to say it but, what a ding dong! If I had the chance to go to Berkeley School I'd a jumped on that chance...I wouldn't have gone to M.I. DIT tho (Musicians Institute, Drum Institute of Technology) They just turn out musicians that all sound the same and will either get a job playing for things like 'The Tonight Show' band with Jay Leno or worse, lol Thanks for your cool comment telling me a little bit about your life! I always appreciate you for that! Have a great week! JM
