Description
This shot is from a hike my wife & I took with a group of about 30 others yesterday. It was organized by a local group called the Applegate Trails Association, which describes itself as "a non-profit Oregon group formed by community residents to develop a system of hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails in the mountains of the Applegate Valley." I recently volunteered to be the photo manager for their website, though I haven't actually started yet.
This hike was called the Sundown Mine Trail & was about 4 miles total, some of it quite steep. The hikers pictured here (I was following closely) were veering off the trail to check out the opening of an old gold mine. As you can see, there was quite an expansive view from where I was standing. From one point, I was able to look down & see my neighbor's house, though my own house was hidden by an intervening hill.
And now a shameless plug for my latest post on my other gallery here at Renderosity (Bryce renders), which I have been neglecting due to my photographic interests: Anteater Mandala

Theres a subtle line from the guy in the forefront, throught the tree, to what I presume to be a lake in the distance which gives this a well balanced feel.

Not a lake, it's a meadow in the distance.

What a view! Looks like a pretty steep trail, and a strenuous hike back up. I like the saturated colors of this image. And the sharp focus. Nice capture of a mountain hike.

Love that blue sky and the mountains that go off into the distance; what a great view!

What a gorgeous view! Hiking is a really good advertisement for not getting a bigger camera. Trust me on this one! LOL!

A beautiful dipping shot of a path down slopes, and that red hat makes a fine accent to pull us back front---when all that beautiful expanse sits before us. Your rich yellows in the front are beautiful contrast to the greens and blues of the background. And the lines of the slopes, as well as of the circuitous valley as it winds its way into the background, are peaceful and beautiful. A loving shot, Claude, once again showing your embrace of the nature you see all the time, and making it shine and be grand and gentle all at once. Now I'll comment on your latest mandala. I've seen it already, and loved it...
