I love a challenge!
When Barbara and I met on Twitter, I had no idea how much I'd learn about a part of history I never learned about in school.
I'm not sure if I didn't learn much about WWII, other than Hitler being the bad guy and watching MASH reruns -which I've learned was the Korean War and not WWII like I always thought- as a kid, or if it's simply not taught or presented in an interesting way so I'd remember it, but this project peaked my interest; and I'm not even a war story fan.
Behind the Forgotten Front, by Barbara Hawkins, is a historic fiction about the people behind the building of the Burma Road (wiki link for those who also slept through this class).
Blurb:
Harry Flynn journeys to a world of tigers, elephants, and snow-capped Himalayan Mountains where he must take risks if he's to survive. It's 1942 and he expects to find the glory of battle, instead, he reports for duty as an ordinary supply officer in the Indian subcontinent. There, General Joseph 'Vinegar Joe' Stilwell is constructing a 'road to nowhere' through Japanese-occupied Burma. Even though men are dying a man a mile from typhus, malaria and crumbling mountain slopes, the general pushes harder: he'll do anything to get the road built. Harry's forced to obey orders he's convinced are obstructing the war effort. So he rebels. When a commanding officer spots Harry's unconventional skills, he's transferred to America's first guerrilla-supported unit: Merrill's Marauders and later the Mars Task Force. In this strange land, Harry forges unlikely friendships and takes comfort in the lure of sensuous women. In the end, Harry must decide what makes life worth living, or die.

**About the credits, I used jamminwolf's character first, then modified it further to get the look I wanted. So although I wanted to give vendor credit, I don't want to confuse people as to why my character does not look like the product promos.
*Vendors, I LOVE doing artistic renders & bragging up your hard work. Contact me :D*
