Description
This is way too much fun.
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
I don't know what these beautifully clad femmes were waiting for, but they broke the boredom by exchanging anecdotes and telling jokes. I think the one at the far right is funny all on her own, but, curiously, the lady at the far left saw no humor in all this and didn't even crack a smile.
I like the bottom picture most.
A ZOOM is a must to be fully appreciated.

Nice shots. The attire worn here are both elaborate as well as colorful. I'm sure going to this event was well worth it. I'm not sure how much postwork effort you actually needed to do. Amazing photos though.

Since it was in the shade, a lot of brightening and contrast was involved here.

A lovely series of shots of these well-dressed ladies, Harry; very colourful indeed, and those outfits look like they must have been quite warm in the dry Southern California sunshine. You really brought out the texture of the dresses and their varying expressions well!

I agree with you about lack of smile mate, if you did not want to do it, well, don't.. Simple? But they are colourful shots and neat costumes.. I think racolt33 has a Small point, I too have problems with grey skies and aircraft, and just click auto to see if it sorts things first.. These are slightly over brightened mate but good none the less..

Very clear postwork, I'd not have known these were originally too dark. I love the subtle changes from top shot to bottom shot, and yes the far right woman is the most fun to watch---in the second one she's like a kid bored to death who's relegated to puffing her cheeks to keep entertained. And in the last shot, she's broken her position and is fully engaged. But there are other changes too as we move down the series. And the second-to-last lady, on the right, breaks ranks entirely, by adjusting her head scarf, or maybe acting something out, meditating, or something. A fascinating collection of expressions and postures. And the first two seem like posings for a Renaissance portrait: Their austere postures are fitting for a painting of the time. And there's a feeling of staunch verticality in most of these shots (something painters would've emphasized in a painting): The women almost make statues, with the verticals of their gowns flowing straight down. That's something painters would've brought out heavily. Very well seen and composed, because there really is a group feeling in these women, with long vertical lines. It's hard to believe you didn't get these shots over many weeks, as the variety of images is quite broad.
