Description
Same little frog from yesterday's posting. He was still sitting on the lip of my hot tub & I needed to move him so I could close the cover without crushing him, so I picked him up & placed him in another part of our garden. I thought he looked pretty well camouflaged in the leaves, but the photo I took of him there was uninteresting, so I played around a little in Photoshop & came up with this.
If anyone's interested, I used a basic technique that I've used a few times before to get this effect. I duplicated the background layer, applied the Glowing Edges filter & then experimented with the blending modes until I got a happy result. In this case, I also reduced the opacity of the top layer to desaturate the color a little & turned off the green channel (in the Advanced Blending options). Probably too much info for most, but maybe somebody can make some use of it...

This one caught my attention right away. It's perfect. It is hard to tell where the frog ends and the leaves begin. The color saturation is spot on and the subtle vignetting draws total focus on the frog and smooths away distractions.

A great result, and thanks for the techie info! I'm always up for learning something new about Photoshop, and it never ceases to amaze me that people use it in such different ways.

He does seem pretty well disguised in the spot you chose for him. Nice work!
