My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!
If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.
Thanks for your interest in my work, and for stopping by to learn more about me!

Funny how that works, isn't it: It's all fun and games until the spider pulls a gun, and all of that! It is amazing how "frivolity" frowned upon, in a culture in which many aspects of culture are based firmly and solidly on the frivolous. It's such a paradox...funny when you look at it from the outside, but from the inside, it's a bit itchy. I really like the way this flows, how conversational it sounds, how succinct it is and how it points to all of the things we scarcely think about. No fun and games...and apparently, the best cakes are looked at rather than eaten, since you can have your cake and eat it too...which makes me wonder: in such a world, just what is cake used for then? This is a great poem, especially in that it sets my mind off in all sorts of directions, and though it's a tangent at best, I'm now slightly fascinated by the whole idea of non-edible cake. Not exactly fun and games, but still...there is a connection. This is really good, solid stuff.

Sez who!? How can you play a game without having fun? Ok, unless you are an adult. Adults play games for keeps. And they infect children with their nonsense. Since I retired 'frivolous' has become my middle name. I enjoy the looks on people's faces when they see my sweat shirt that reads "Who says nothing is impossible? I've been doing nothing all day!" If I get a smile then I know I've found a kindred spirit. Now where was I? Oh yes, fun and games. If they can't appreciate fun and games then I try and avoid them. And if Chip wants to find a non-edible cake he should go to Japan where bakeries put plastic replicas of the items they sell in the window. Pop art at its finest. Having said all that, a terrific bit of prose.

Hehe!!! It's that certain word syndrome. People that are called Tom I feel sorry for. Peeping Tom, Tom foolery, Tommy rot, etc. It's used loosely here for sex crimes, Woman to man "See that bloke got done for fun and games with that under aged teen then" Man to woman, "Yeah he started out as a peeping Tom, and has escalated to full blown crime, he trid to lie in court, but the prosecutor knew it was all Tommy rot."

I read this last night, and it inspired me to write something for the same theme. But mine devolved into idiocy and complete dissolution of story and everything else. (Hint---it ends with "no pixels were harmed in the writing of this piece". It was bad.) But this is delightful. You have short little chewies for each line, you have a few stanzas of all lists---delightfully chosen---you have "fun and games" in several stanzas in a row (repetition is one of the hearts of ritual and poetry!), you use capitalization sweetly ("you really ought to be/Doing Something Else"), separation--- "Keep those activities Separate" (two uses of separate in one square inch, lol), some really nice repeated sounds (sibilant-crazy: "Denotes something/Unnecessarily frivolous/Not to be taken/Seriously/Somehow it implies/That you really ought to be/Doing Something Else"---ssssssss!) ("when to the sessions of sweet silent thought/I summon up remembrance of things past..."), sweet line division, and you end on a simple parental caveat: "No fun and games now/You hear?" Delightful. And true. I never thought about the phrase and how different it is from its component words. And Chip's gotten me to think about cake too, now. Well no mind. It's delightful. (So why did my piece suck? Even one of my characters came in and told me it sucked. That's a bad sign...) Always delightful when you post a poem...delectable.

Brilliant! Just brilliant, Tara! It's truly amazing how two words can have a whole different message by themselves - but put 'em together.... no more fun & games... :-P

I had to think about this one for awhile. Leaving a good comment isn't just all fun and games. But yea, seriously, this is a good point and .... lol, who am I kidding, this hurts my brain, I'm not deep enough to figure this out. It's interesting and makes you go .. huh? omgosh, it's true, the words change meaning when put together. I think I'll go take a walk now, you messin' with head. wow.

I play a lot, so I can confirm that there is a chance to win if you have a sound plan, however you should definitely play carefully rather than aggressively. I believe you should at least attempt playing at an bingo sites hall because it can not only bring you money but also make your free time more enjoyable. why not Many of my friends play, and they have a great time and make a lot of money. You must determine what is more important to you.
