Description

This is just a quick scene I created with a Mountain created with Terrain Fractal v2. I found a mountain peak I liked and changed the coordinates of the fractal so it was more center in the terrain. I spend a lot of time creating the materials from scratch as practice using the function editor. I don't like the new one, so I used the old style editor after a while. There is a mixed material of rock and snow for the rocky and rough parts. That in turn is in a mixed material of snow for the smoother parts of the terrain. I used external dependencies from the procedural terrain to drive the distribution for the Snow/Rock and Snow mix, The same distribution map drives the distribution of the trees in the eco system, along with altitude and slope settings and a small amount of clumping. The trees have a slight variable scale and color setting for a more realistic forest. I used blue and red spruce for the forest and added a few high res conifers up close to sell the detail of the rest of the trees. I used photometric lighting with global radiosity and a stock cloud formation with some customization Render time was a about 40mins at 1600x900, final setting but with texture and object anti aliasing turned on, but max settings decreased slightly. Saved out to a multipass .psd file as usual, but barely made any big adjustments in post
