Hi All,
I have dabbled in computer graphics for many years, renewing my interest when I discovered the community on Renderosity, many years ago now. Thanks for all the friends, support, comments and just views! I hope that you like what you see, and don't mind my endless experimenting and daft sense of humour!I have become something of a champion for Carrara and believe it to be one of the most comprehensive and best value 3D packages available. I became known for my extensive use of Carrara's dynamic hair and 2010 has seen the release of a number of commercial Carrara hair products. I have also recorded a whole series of video tutorials for Infinite Skills Inc available over at Daz and also here:http://www.infiniteskills.com/training/learning-carrara-7.htmlOne of my other passions is music and I used to be keyboard player with progressive rock band Manning (2008-2009). I was delighted to make my recording debut on "Number Ten" released early 2009 - I also had a big hand in designing the CD cover and booklet! I am now writing and recording some demos of my own music. Thanks for looking - have a great day! Phil

Hi Phil, great Render. Did you sue the genuine Carrara Render Engine?. How long did it take?
PhilW
Yes, just the genuine Carrara render engine. It uses the techniques that I will outline in the forthcoming "Realism in Carrara" video tutorial set by Infinite Skills, which should be launched later this month. It took less than a minute to render.

Nice work on the helixes. Not easy to pull of in Carrara.
PhilW
Thanks - I used the spline editor for the threads and then converted to the vertex modeller to finish it off.

It still boggles my mind how a digitally produced image of such a common subject matter can be so visually tantalizing. Love it!!!!
PhilW
Thank you - glad you like it!

Excellent modeling and great realism on this!
ontar1
That is fantastic, so real!

Wow. Excellent modelling. Slot-head screws? When will the world learn that the only proper screw head is the Robertson!
PhilW
Only in Canada apparently! And I wanted to go for a generic screw (and it is easier to model than a cross head!)

I never thought I'd be so delighted with some woodwork items! they look superb and the photoshop DOF worked great.

Really lovely realism in this simple image. Since I just dipped a toe into the modeling realm, now you've got me wondering if I can duplicate this LOL! Nice work!
