Description

As some of you might remember, our beloved hawthorn tilted over in a storm this winter and could not be rescued. We bought a new in april. The troubles about that is a longer story and I will spare you for that, but for a month, I couldnt see anythig else than a tree. Now it got leaves and I was surprised the leaves didnt at all look like the leaves on the old tree. I was almost digging it up and returning it to the garden center, until I a few days ago saw the little flowers it delivered. So in all it must just be another type of Hawthorn. Anyway I am relieved, as I thought they had given us a MIRABELE, which grow wild out here. HAHA ! Have a wonderful day. Weather here is perfect today. Need I say more? Thank you for viewing and commenting :-)

What a relief! People used to eat the young leaves of these in the old days.

Congratulations on your 2600e, my friend. And I like your hawthorn very much, as I now can smell it also, which I love. And the photo of it is a beauty, Helle. The dark red stamens are gorgeous.

Beautiful flowers. My dumb husband cut off all the bloom from my lilac and wysteria bushes because he said they needed trimming. I was so angry!

It's a lovely bunch of blossoms; hopefully it will eventually settle in and become part of your garden family!

I'm glad someone told you about your 2600th, lol. A worthy number to celebrate! (I can't even IMAGINE getting that far!) Another zoom-essential shot (I zoom for everything, but some shots really bloom dramatically in zoom, and this is one). Up close, this is like a delicate salad, with fruit and nut pieces spread throughout it. The flowers themselves are so delicate, even fragile---at least in the picture. So all their stamens and all those purples, greens and browns make such a fine contrast to the petals. Like a fruit and nut salad with leaves of differing colors. Delectable work, Helle. More beautiful flower work from you. Well, I've been in your gallery an hour now (I think I did 8 or 9 images), so I'll move on to a few more artists, and then rest. I'll be back for more, as I haven't commented here in a lonnnnnng time, and it's a lot of fun. Beautiful and celebratory work as always, and congratulations on 2600!!!! It's a great gallery, and worth all the accolades you can get! Add mine to the chorus...bravo!
