Excellent. I have not seen one butterfly in sarf lundun yet. Not even in the parks and eco gardens. Bloody developers have a lot to answer for.

The decorated edges give this brown plain wrap some wonderful flash. Outstanding close up. Beautiful light and color.

Ok it's time to say this. When other uploaders don't know the name of a flower or insect, they always say, "Andrea should know this!" And nearly everytime, you DO! So how'd you learn all this? You studied art, did it professionally, taught, raised a family, maintained a home and a beautiful garden and land---when did you have time to become a botanist and entomologist? How do you KNOW all this? I drew plants, insects and flowers, but I retained almost no names of anything. I'm a dunce, I know, but even people HERE don't know what you know. I have a feeling you know all this simply from experience and observation: You plant, you learn names, you photograph, you learned names. Where'd you get the memory? Well ok, I'm gonna let this go, but I had to get that off my chest. I can't even PRONOUNCE "Pararge aegeria" not to mention "know" it. (The name sounds like it was invented to trip people up on speech. Have you said it recently? I realize it probably doesn't come up in conversation a whole lot, but have you pronounced it? Ok, I'm through, Lol. Now to the pic.) A big splash of leaves, flat in our faces, I really like how the leaves are flush forward in the immediate viewing plane. And they're bright. And the Speckled Wood butterfly is all vivid and also soft, as their wings will be. (Like there's wool on them.) And you have the bfly facing right into the stamens. A fine capture, really well caught, and the shot splashes in our faces. And I like the black at the bottom---the pic is floating on top of that. A fine choice. Another vivid insect capture from you.

I've always wondered the same things anahata.c just wondered. I am greatful you know all these things, often you send me off to look things up and I marvel even more that you know all these names, I can't even remember most people's name, though I do remember their dog's names. Wonder what that says about me, giggles. All that aside, another marvelous capture! A gorgeous butterfly, close up, their wings always totally amaze me, and their soft "furry" bodies do as well.

Lovely markings on this butterfly and a beautiful background to highlight your specimen!
