Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

Thanks for this fine remembrance. I didn't know Punaguy well but his work here on Rendo was first class as I am sure he was too. Yes, he'll be missed. And my condolences to you as I know you were good friends.

Oh Errol, I'm so sorry to hear about Dave! He was a terrific photographer in many genres, but it's those huge, crashing waves that I always think of in association with his work. He was already well established here on RR when I arrived in 2007, and I remember thinking if I ever got to be half as good as he was, I'd be happy. That's still true ... he was an amazing talent. Every subject he turned his camera on became something special in his hands. He had a wonderful eye, a finely tuned sense of timing, and an artist's sensibility for the shot. There are people who are technically proficient with the camera and have no eye, and people who have an artistic eye that won't quit but can't take a clear shot to save their lives. Dave was one of the rare ones who had both artistic and technical talent in abundance. ... ... ... Aloha, Dave ... may you journey well into your new future on perfect waves, under gorgeous skies ... ... ...
