I like the mood of this piece. You wonder what's goin thru her head... tween tricks.

Impressive use of lighting and color to set the mood of the story. A dark, sad place both in her reality and in her head....perhaps she's making the mistake many of us make of not taking responsibility for the choices we've made and not seeing we still can make other choices (hard to see the choices when you're that depressed). Powerful stuff...I love graphics that tell a story and this is a powerful one.

Not sure with which brush you painted the better stroke. Both images are very nicely done.

Your words and image go very well together. I like the thought be behind it and the composition. A lot of pathos there. One minor observation about the image. The shadows on the bottle and the can don't seem quite right somehow and maybe the ambience needs tweaking to blend them into the background more smoothly. But I do like it. A very thought provoking piece.

Yeah, DMFW, not sure what the deal is with the can and bottle. The scene has 3 light--one infinite and two spots. The infinite from top-right of the scene (fairly low intensity). One spot to represent a bulb burning in the rear of the alley and the other to represent a stree light or something at the opening of the alley. I wonder if THAT light "wiped" out the shadows made by the infinite one. But, yes, I noticed it.

Oh I love the lights in this. And the shadows... well I can never seem to get them all right either, so I'm used to postworking them G It is a very minor thing though, the picture is great :o) Thanks for showing.

No, thanks to you, Liz. When I saw the "trash" you started posting for free...and having my thought, it was a perfect opportunity!

but the "errors" add a subtle discordancy that fits the mood of both the image and poem. there are times when "perfection" actually reduces the quality of the impression created.

Under the rules of the challenge you would have got a 8 or 9 for this one. Mostly because your relying on direct instead of implied rhyme and are still stuck. If you can hear...stuck, stuff, stove and enough all are close. Listen to jaqui perfection and impression rhyme. Don't worry about the score. There's no scale but if you do a six line poem and get a twelve isn't that better than doing a six line poem and getting a five?

I can almost see her customer walking away. The picture sets a scene for the words and the words add an extra dimension to the picture. I'm impressed.
