Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

What a wonderful capture of these alien tree-creatures growing in disguise in this bed of ferns. Who would have thought? Clever of you to suss them out, Chip. Happy birthday (belated) to Lucinda!

Very nice! I like the combination of the red from the plants and the red bricks in the background.

A very interesting mix. They don't seem to fit in with the ferns but it still works well. Lucinda will love it.

There must be thousands ... millions ... of types of fern in the world. This one is gorgeous! It isn't anything I'm familiar with. What a beautiful variety!

This such a nice gesture for a very wonderful friend. And colourful too, all bouquets should be wildly colourful!

Oh, this is beautiful, Chip! Thank you for looking for trees and finding these gorgeous ferns. Their colors and light are wonderful. I love the way the green leaves stand out against the red. I've never seen ferns not exactly in flower. I've seen the fiddleheads of ferns when I was in Washington a little over a year ago. I've learned that people eat them . . . carefully or unwisely, take your pick. This is an excellent shot! I love starting from the bottom and sweeping up, following the red lines to the brick building in the distance. I like images that show lush plants and cities combined. When I went to New York City after a many years absence, I was amazed by all the green. I don't know if I was just singularly unobservant as a young person, or in the wrong places, but I didn't remember all that green. Thank you for this and for extending my birthday! Beautiful image! I like it a lot!

A big wild sumptuous and imposing plunge down fern-land, and then up into Chicago buildings. You've always, in your gallery, shown angles and worlds inside Chicago that most people never stop to look at, and which most photographers don't bother with. Whole worlds unto themselves. This is primal---ferns are anyway, but it's the confluence of them and the red stalks that make these esp so. And your composition and crop allows them to dominate much of the shot, out of which arises Chicago. A big lush piece for our wonderful Lucinda (who has her share of big lush pieces in her gallery), and another wonderful journey in your description---journey through your insights, insides, etc. Happy Birthday, Lucinda, and many, many more! And another fine upload from you, Chip!
