Description
Great answers! GrandmaT, you got it. The spots are the difference. Faemiek, the size is also part of it. Durleybeachbum and Jandellas , the feather pattern is different as well as the size. Tranx, you were specific about the breast feathers and correct, but wrong on the size. giulband, I love your answer. They are WONDERFUL!
The females are always larger in raptors. The breast spots are on the male. If you look back at the post on 5/26, you can see the spots on the male on the left. I believe they think I assigned them seats! Sorry if this comes across like a teacher, but this is how I do my programs for the school kids. I try to go to schools 10 times a year. If I get the kids, wildlife may have a chance. Thanks to everyone.

Thanks for the answers the book wasn't too specific regarding the breast spots and the differences

The one thing I have learned about wildlife books is that there is a lot of wrong information . I think that the people that handle wildlife in our rehab have a much better idea about their reality.

Amazing how the females are the bigger, hope to see pics of these three as they get older :o) x

The females are larger as they are more likely To have to defend the next. They also are on the eggs during most of the incubation. Males help with the incubation but females spend more hours.
