Description

Levant Mine and Beam Engine is a National Trust property at Trewellard, Pendeen, near St Just, Cornwall, England, UK. Its main attraction is that it has the world's only Cornish beam engine still operated by steam on its original site. The Mine is 600meters deep and runs for 2.5Km under the sea. This shot is of the ruined Power and Compressor house.

It's amazing how the stack is still standing with the strong weathering on the other parts of the structure. Mines are scary, but under the sea as well ? no way ! Neat close-up version Steve. ~Cheers~

Nice to see a closer view of this stack and what's left of the support structure. Thanks for sharing its history and that it goes into the sea! That's pretty amazing!

There is a wild charm about these ruins which I love. This may be where we were entranced by the working beam engine when my son was eight, although I seem to remember it was called Taylor's Shaft, so maybe not. It was 42 years ago after all!
