Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Exquisite shot Andrea. I have not seen these in ages, so as you rightly say a rare occurrence.

Well Andrea, THIS time I'm going to start with your most recent and work my way backwards. Maybe I'll meet my earlier comments in the middle...Zoomed, this is like big swaths of fleece floating in the sky, like someone in heaven was combing their sheep and didn't turn off the fan. It's a beautiful sight, and it's hard to believe you didn't "direct" these to fall into formations, because they really fall in lines, almost perfectly, and each one seems to end with the same accent: that little 'hook' on the top of each wisp. You eyed these and caught these perfectly, it's like a cloud ballet rehearsal (performance next weekend). Thanks for sharing this! Because I've never seen cirrus's like these. Very sweet work, Andrea. And the flickr version was for "capture the wind"? Something like that? You did that, for sure. (Bill should know about these clouds, he's flown in or near them, and probably had lunch with them. I mean, they're ice, right? So you just reach out the cockpit, break off some crystals, and put it in your drink. I'm sure Bill will back me on that. All the cirrus's I've seen in the midwest, I've never seen formations like these. Beautiful.)

Excellent and fascinating captures....I often enjoyed cloud sculpting with a camera, even more interesting if you attach different filters or do it in post work, but the natural one's like these are always a joy to experience.

Superb! I've seen Mare's Tails, but not as regimented, and a bit heavier then these. It's been some time though, since I've seen some. A marvelous capture, with tree tops included.
