Description
the name Jack-in-the-pulpit comes from the structure of the flower. a small upright flower-spike that looks like a small man (Jack) preaching from an old-fashioned raised pulpit/podium.
there are 4 of these growing on the edge of my yard in the woods.
thanks so much for looking and commenting. thanks for past peeks and comments, too!

The wildflowers, many of which bloom in May, include waterleaf, wild ginger, red trillium, Jack-in-the-pulpit , smooth and woolly blue violet, Solomon's seal, false Solomon's seal, and enchanter's nightshade. SPLENDID shot !!!

A really cool shot Barb! Are these in your yard? I have just one spot at the Hollow where these grow, and there's only one or two. This year, I found a bazillion young ones in the woods! I'm totally thrilled. I guess they must've started growing there last year or the year before, I just didn't get up there much because I didn't want to leave Murphy, and then the B-dog alone as they were sick, so missed them. A few of they even in bloom this year! Now if the Trillium would just spread as prolifically!
