Description

Eventually I finnished the waterlily with Dry Pastel. Painted after a photo by ANDREA Thank you for letting me try this :) Unfortunately I had only one page of Velour paper left and it was black. I am not fond of black, but I thought, that many people are using black background, so why cant I?... Well, it was hard work and I am sure, I will ruin it all with fixative. This is without. So it is not so grainy yet. Didnt dare taking the risk and spoil it before I took a shot for RR :) It didnt come out as I wanted it, because of the black background, which was pretty hard to cover totally and give the light it deserved. But done is done and I had fun with it, while the boys were"NERDING" and Noa was sewing. We all do some kind of work untill noon and the rest of the day after lunch is for fun. Have a beautiful week. It was hot today and beautiful sunshine but a bit warmer than I like it. :) Thank you for viewing and commenting. :-)))

You did a lovely job on this; I think the black gives it richness. Hopefully the fixative won't ruin it for you. Beautifully done!

Oooooohh! Gorgeous! It's gorgeous! You're SO good at this, my friend. What a fabulous rendition of Andrea's water lily! I love all the detail, and the wider view. You're the best! Every time you post a painting, I learn something from you. It's especially wonderful to see what you've done with something I'm already so familiar with ... to see the way you used color, to see how your style comes through in contrast to my style (and of COURSE I always like yours better!!) ... such a treat! I'm totally excited that you decided to do this, and the black paper doesn't detract at all. The result is cool and dramatic and just absolutely outstanding! What a wonderful birthday gift for Andrea! :)

This is beautiful! I love it! I have only done one thing in pastels (and not on black!) What a chore. I tip my hat to you. This is marvelous! It works really well on the black, however difficult it was. Beautiful light and textures. I see that you were attracted to the veins in the wider version too. I love the way you have done them. Wonderful textures and light! Absolutely beautiful!
