Description

"Dove Babies" The mama Dove of my previous posts has two babies. Although Mama has shades of tan, brown, gray, black, and white. I was surprised to see the little ones were only shades of gray and black. The mother has raised these babies through golf ball sized hail, 50mph winds, and torrential rains, with temperatures from 40s to over 100F. She has been very dedicated. Thanks for viewing my gallery and your comments. What cute little fuzz balls! Great shot. My daughter has a robin's nest on top of her electrical box on the back patio with four scrawny babies in it. They haven't even opened their eyes yet.

Awww what lovely little chicks they are too waiting for the mother to return with a beak full of food. Very interesting read about how the mother has battled her way through all the various weather conditions to fulfil her need to care for her babies. Fantastic capture here, thanks, and well done!! hugs Jane

Saddness: This morning I discovered the mother and chicks are not in the nest. One chick was found dead on our deck about 20 ft from the next. No sign of the other and mom. I guess they didn't make it through the storm this weekend while we were out of town, or a predator got them. There was no visible injury to the dead chick. Jim
