Description

I just found a patch of these in my yard. here's what I learned: "they are notorious for popping up suddenly and unexpectedly in urban settings... part of the main body, at some stage in development, is covered with a foul-smelling slime which attracts flies... the flies spread the spores from place to place... they are transported by soil, sod, wood chips and trees... they are not poisons." the smell is awful and the flies are disgusting and the shape is, um, rather disturbing in my garden, too. I promptly dug them up! :-) thanks for looking and commenting!

If I find these in my garden, I've got my shovel ready. I had to laugh at what they call them in the UK! thanks for the heads-up and the explanation (:

A stinking bug attracted to a stink plant! How appropriate and most annoying for anyone to have to observe, let alone live near! An excellent photo!
