Description

This was mainly done as a test of the tree, which was made in a free iPad app called TreeSketch, which makes some terrific trees, which have a different character to Carrara trees (great though they are!). It is an easy to use and very interactive way to sculpt and create a diverse range of trees - definitely recommended if you have an iPad. I hope you like - thanks for stopping by! Phil

Thanks, Paul. Since the export from TreeSketch is in OBJ format, you can use these trees in DS, Poser, Vue or anything else which will import OBJ.

Strewth mate, how long did that take to render? Fantastic scene though worth every minuet of it!

Total render time was around 2 hours, so not too bad given the render settings and the complexity of the scene.

excellent, how high poly was the tree? Did it render faster or slower than Carrara trees?

PhilW

This tree was around 50k polys. I haven't done any tests but I would say that they render around the same speed as Carrara trees.

Great work on this. How many instances of the grass are there?

PhilW

5:08PM | Sun, 22 June 2014

The grass was done in patches and I think there were 5,000 patches in a surface replicator and a similar number of the white flowers.

Excellent, but alas I don't have any I-stuff. Love the composition, the serene looking pose of the model really adds to it. Nice.
