Description
A small Ichneumon Wasp- believe this is Family Ichneumonidae (Ichneumon Wasps) Subfamily Cremastinae; but that is a guess from looking through Bug Guide. I have another shot of it next to common black ants. And in relation it isn't much bigger than them, maybe a tad longer. I liked this image much more composition wise than the other so here it is. Believe the flower its on is a Black Eyed Susan, but I am no expert when it comes to flowers.
I see a lot of these small parasitic wasps, but the ones I usually find are all black and lack the cool colors and markings this one has. Definitely one of my new fav wasps.
