Description

The weather in Chicago has warmed, considerably, though we’re still experiencing a few…um…fluctuations. I think that whatever caused the dreaded polar vortex is still active…but now, instead of insanely cold temperatures interspersed with mildly-dreadful temperatures, we get heat, interspersed with chilly/wet weather. This is a major difference, however, from the insane cold snap Chicago experienced at just the time that Carin came to visit…that long time ago. On one of Chicago’s decently warm nights, I walked around the downtown area, looking for things to photograph. I found The Flamingo, all lit up. For some reason it reminded me of everything but a flamingo. It’s an odd thing. Quite pretty, if you ask me, and as this is Carin’s birthday, I feel that it’s only fitting to dedicate it as a birthday acknowledgement. Happy Birthday, Carin!

It is pretty cool. But I definitely do not see a flamingo in any way, shape or form :) Happy Birthday Carin

Yep. It's the Calder Flamingo...there's a daytime shot of it earlier in my gallery. This is from the other side. At night.

I love this night shot of the "Flamingo." Whatever possessed him to say it was a flamingo is beyond me. I wonder if he imagined a lot of art snobs standing around with their hands on their chins, or drinking wine, and saying, "Of course you see the flamingo in this. It's quite abstract of course, but I can certainly see what he's saying here!" Then he's standing off to the side slapping his leg, laughing hysterically! :D

OK, I guess it has some flamingo essence to it, but it's surely been stressed and restressed in its birth! Still, it is an eye-catcher, and I love this shot you got for Carin!
